Amy’s talk

So before Amy’s talk, I never really gave Zimbabawe a thought. Sure, I skimmed over the article that was sent out before her talk but that is as far as I had thought. Zimbabawe was just another country in Africa, I have a tendency to focus on my own life more so. But I had no idea about their political system. i had heard about their one million dollar bills but that’s pretty much it. I found her talk to be very interesting when she spoke about how their President had been in power for so long and when the previous elections took place, he had to cheat in order to keep his position. And the people that were found out to be involved with the election against him were hunted and basically prosecuted in some way for trying to actually use their right to vote. It just makes me think of how lucky I am to live in a country that people are actually able express themselves to a degree.

Yeah i agree with you. I never really stopped to think about the countries in Africa. I know that they undergo some hardships, but I never have time to look into them. After her talk, I definitely thought about how lucky we all our to live in this country. I find myself looking up online about other countries a lot too now. I just look to see some current events and find out what is going on around the world that I otherwise would have known nothing about.
